Business Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: President Roy Brunner called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
Roy introduced our sponsors for the evening: Primex Wireless. John Chomko and
Mark F. Madsen demonstrated the many wireless clocks, analog and digital and a
wireless Public Address system that are available from Primex.
Business Meeting: Roy called the meeting to order at 7:41 P.M. The minutes of
the October 2005 meeting were approved as printed. The attendance for this
evening's meeting was as follows: 25 hospital members, 27 associate members
and 2 guests. The actual count was 57.
Treasurer's Report: Dick Barker -- Dick read the Treasurer's report. It was
approved as read. Dick also stated that he has mailed a final dues notice to a
few select members and is looking for prompt payment. The 50/50 raffle was
drawn. Kerry Bauer from Duquesne Light won $76.00.
New Members: We had one candidate approved for membership this evening: Rusty Hughes, Major Account Manager for Duquesne Light. Rusty, who will be stepping
in for Kerry Bauer, handles all hospital business at Duquesne Light, he can be
reached at hhughes@duqlight.com or by calling 412-393-80 10. HESP welcomes its
new members.
Guests: Keith White of Chemsearch and John Walls, President of Calyx Metrology Laboratory, Inc. in State Collage, Pa., introduced themselves.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Education: Michael Bryer -- Mike announced that the date for this year's
Stationary Engineers' class will be November 10th only. The class for November
17th has been canceled due to lack of registrants. Class content will be: air
compression, boiler startup and shutdown. The course will be taught by Tim
Butler. Mike said that the cost, which includes lunch and parking, will be
$100 for HESP members and $125 for non-members. A non-member wishing to join
can have the $25 fee applied towards his or her 2006
dues. Mike said that even though the sign up date has expired, there is still
plenty of room at the November 10th class. Anyone wishing to attend should
check out the information available on the HESP web site.
Newsletter: Ron Lukcic -- Ron said that he is still soliciting ads for next
year's newsletter, but will need to "have them quickly!" The new newsletter
will start in January at no increase in price. Ron also thanked our
advertisers, both old and new. Thanks and appreciation were given to Walt and
Marion, our dispenser and dispenser-ette and to our caterer. As always, Ron is
looking for articles of interest and/or humor for the newsletter.
Codes and Regulations: Bill Brooks -- (Did not attend) - Roy told us that
starting in January, The Joint Commission will be doing unnannounced surveys.
He also informed us that on future Joint Commission inspections, there will be
an Engineer in addition to the nurse surveyor coming to hospitals with more
than 200 beds.
ASHE: No Report.
Biomed: Dan Procupp -- No Report.
Membership: Brenda Henwood -- No report.
Holiday Party: Chuck Froetschel -- Chuck said that he is planing this year's
holiday party to be similar to last year's function, a Monte Carlo night. The
event will be held at the American Serbian Club on Friday, December 9th.
Additionally, we will have music this year. Chuck is looking for ideas and
suggestions. Vendor donations would also, be greatly appreciated.
Picnic: Bruce Saddler -- No report.
Web Site/Marketing: Alice Atkins (The Write Design) -- Alice announced that she
is now the new Mrs. Alice Hoffmaster. Congratulations on your recent wedding.
Alice reminded us to check the HESP web site for job postings and information
on our upcoming Christmas in November project.
Old Business: Tom Kastelic -- Tom reminded us of a family in Verona who lost
their father and needs some work done in the form of a 'Christmas in April'
project, this Saturday, November 5th, at 8:00 am. It will be a light project
consisting of painting, landscaping, woodwork and general clean up. Tom
provided a map for those interested and thanked Sherwin Williams and Grainger
for their generous donations to this project.
New Business: Tonight we had elections for officers for 2007. The winners were:
President-Terry Kocian, Bio Medical Technician at St. Clair Hospital. Secretary-Frank Rutledge, RHVAC Technician at West Penn Hospital and
Treasurer-Dick Barker.
Adjournment: There being no further business, Ray adjourned the meeting at 7:55
P.M.
