Business Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: President, Terry Kocian, called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
Terry introduced Automated Entrance Systems, Co., Inc., our sponsor for the
evening. Bruce and Matt Sadler and Ken Nowak, Automated Entrance Systems, Co.,
Inc., spoke about Pedestrian Automatic Doors: The Changes that Affect
Healthcare Institutions and ADA requirements.
Business Meeting: Terry called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. The attendance
for this evening's meeting was as follows: 22 hospital members; 26 associate
members; and 6 guests. The actual count was seventy-one (71). The minutes from
the March 2007 meeting were approved as printed.
Treasurer's Report: Dick Barker -- Dick read the Treasurer's report. It was
approved as read.
New Members: We had one applicant accepted for membership tonight: Dr. Janet E.
Stout, Director, Special Pathogens Laboratory, Pittsburgh, PA. A vote was
taken and Dr. Stout was approved for membership. HESP welcomes its new member!
Guests: Caroline Fritsche, National Accounts Manager, American Air Filter,
introduced herself.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Education: Michael Bryer -- No Report.
Newsletter: Ron Lukcic -- Ron expressed our thanks to Harry Elinsky, Jr.,
Filtech, Inc., Mark Lantz, Lantz and Associates, and Carol Lang, American Air
Filter, for the yummy appetizers. As usual, Ron is looking for articles of
interest and / or humor for the newsletter.
Codes and Regulations: Bill Brooks -- Roy Brunner pointed out changes in State
Department of Health regulations for hospitals.
ASHE: No Report.
Biomed: Dan Procupp -- Bob Tobin. Dan mentioned changes in cell phone usage
being considered in hospitals.
Membership: Brenda Henwood -- No Report.
Holiday Party: Chuck Froetschel -- No Report.
Summer Activity: Bruce Saddler -- This year's activity will again be a tailgate
party at The Washington Wild Things baseball game on Saturday, July 21, 2007
at Falconi field in Washington, Pa. The game will start at 7:05 P.M. We will
have a pavilion and catered ball park food. Bruce also told us that the cost
will be the same as last year. Members are free and guests will be $10.00
each. The cost includes game tickets, parking and food. He said to bring the
kids to this reasonably priced, family fun event.
Golf Outing: Steve Tarasovic -- This year's golf outing will be at the
Lindenwood Golf Course in Peters Township on Thursday, September 13, 2007. It
will be a noon shotgun start. More information to follow.
Web Site/Marketing: Alice Hoffmaster (The Write Design) -- Alice reminded
everyone to log onto the web site and sign up for the newsletter. It only
takes a minute and you will receive information by e-mail keeping you up to
date on HESP news and events. www.hospital-engineers.org. Alice also said that
the results of the membership survey will be presented next month.
Hospital Engineers Special Projects: No Report.
Sponsorship Committee: Dan Procupp and Roy Brunner are chairing this committee
to find sponsors for the year. Dan pointed out that there are several
different cost options available to those organizations wishing to sponsor a
meeting. Information packets are available upon request either on the web site
or by contacting Dan or Roy. Their contact information is listed on the back
of the publication.
Old Business: Ron reminded us that parking is available in either one of the
Goodwill's parking lots located on 26th street after 5:00 P.M. Ron mentioned
that we have, in the past, made a donation to Goodwill Industries.
New Business: Ron announced that the complete results of the membership survey
will be presented at next month's meeting. Beverly Beile, who conducted the
survey, will be present the survey results and answer any questions. Two of
the many suggestions, which were a direct result from the survey, were
implemented tonight. The bar will be closed during the sponsor's presentation
and everyone is asked to take a seat at a table during the presentation. Also,
an audit will be conducted later this month. Mark Lantz, Lantz and Associates,
has agreed to assist in the audit.
Adjournment: There being no further business, Terry adjourned the meeting at
8:27 P.M.
