JANUARY'S HESP
MEETING CANCELLED
The HESP Board of Directors has decided to cancel the January meeting due to the fact that the first Tuesday of the month is News Year's day. Please ignore the change noted in the "NEW BUSINESS" section of November's "MEETING NOTES".

Business Meeting Minutes
CALL TO ORDER: President, Terry Kocian, called the meeting to order at 6:45 P.M.
Terry introduced our sponsor for the evening: W.W. Grainger, Inc. Vanessa
Kostic of Grainger introduced our speakers for the evening: Dan Vuselich,
Cooper Bussman; Ed Rieber, Hubbell; Joe Spore, GE Lighting and Tim Swope,
Square D. All had set up tables of product samples and had some excellent suggestions on how to maximize energy savings.
BUSINESS MEETING: President, Terry Kocian, called the meeting to order at 8:13
P.M. The attendance for this evening's meeting was as follows: 23 hospital
members; 26 associate members; and 6 guests. The actual count was fifty-seven
(57). The minutes of the November 2007 meeting were approved as published.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Dick Barker -- Dick read the Treasurer's report. It was
approved as read. Dick also announced a change in dues for the up coming year:
a $5.00 increase, bringing hospital members to $30.00 and associate members to
$45.00.
NEW MEMBERS: We had one new applicant for membership tonight, Daniel Vuselich,
District Sales Engineer for Bussman. H.E.S.P. welcomes its new member.
GUESTS: We had one guest introduce himself tonight -- Tom LoFiego, AAF (American
Air Filter).
COMMITTEE REPORTS
EDUCATION: Michael Bryer -- Mike reminded us that this year's education program
will be held on Tuesday, December 18th at Duquesne University. Class content
will be heating systems overview and will include a tour of a new facility at
Duquesne, which will be opening in January. This class, which provides the
eight-(8) contact hours needed for The City of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineers
License, includes lunch and parking. The cost is $125 for members and $150 for
non-members. Mike said that he has registration forms with him or you can
register on the web site. Mike asked that we disregard the November 30th
deadline.
NEWSLETTER: Ron Lukcic -- Ron expressed our thanks to all of our advertisers and
said that he is looking for ads for next year. QUICKLY!!! And, as Ron
mentioned, the requests went out late this year. Also, thanks to Vanessa for
an interesting and informative presentation and, also, for the GREAT snacks.
As usual, Ron is looking for articles of interest and / or humor for the
newsletter.
CODES AND REGULATIONS: Bill Brooks -- No Report.
ASHE: No Report.
BIOMED: Dan Procupp -- Bob Tobin. No Report.
MEMBERSHIP: Brenda Henwood -- No Report.
HOLIDAY PARTY: Chuck Froetschel -- Chuck said that this year's party will be at
the American Serbian Club this Friday, December 7, 2007 at 6:30
P.M. -- downstairs. Chuck said that we will be having a "Game Show Mania"
where a Master of Ceremonies and four teams will compete for prizes. He is
open to volunteers for this committee. It sounds like a fun night. Dick said
he needs to know tonight who is coming so we can get a final count.
SUMMER ACTIVITY: Bruce Saddler -- Bruce passed on to us that unless someone
suggests something else real soon, next year's summer activity will be a
repeat of last year's -- Washington Wild Things Baseball Game in Washington
County. Bruce says that we need to make reservations shortly as the week that
we want fills up quickly.
GOLF OUTING: Steve Tarasovic -- No Report.
WEB SITE/MARKETING: Alice Hoffmaster (The Write Design) -- Alice said that the
Special Projects information is on the site's "special pages". As always, she
asked that everyone check the web site and sign up!! Ron, along with the rest
of the membership, expressed our thanks to Alice for all of her hard work on a
great web site.
HOSPITAL ENGINEERS SPECIAL PROJECTS: Chuck Froetschel -- Chuck showed us a
plaque which will be attached to a new big screen TV that will be presented to
The Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center, Cowansville, PA, on Saturday, December 22, 2007. The officers, and any interested members, will be meeting
at 10:00 A.M. at The Grant Bar in Millvale and driving to the center for the
presentation. Chuck also reminded us that the officers of HESP agreed to
forego their holiday awards this year and donate the Money for this TV. Chuck
also told us that the hole for the pad for the picnic shelter project has been
dug and that the project will "jell in the spring." Matt said that our project
was announced at the last NAPE meeting and that their membership is willing to
help. Ron asked that we look for a letter shortly, before Christmas, outlining
the donations and help that we are looking for. Everyone is asked to check the

OLD BUSINESS: We are still looking for a President-Elect who will serve as
President in 2009. Terry said that this is a fun and rewarding position with
lots of help from the board and the membership. Anyone who would like to run
for this position is asked to contact Terry or any other board member. Contactinformation is available on the back of this publication or on the web site.
Also, after many years of dedicated service, Dick Barker will be retiring as
treasurer soon and we will need someone else to fill in.
NEW BUSINESS: Terry announced that NEXT MONTH'S MEETING, which falls on New
Years Day, HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, February
5, 2008.
Matt Szanca announced that the next NAPE meeting will be on Thursday, December
20th at The Carnegie Library of Homestead located at 510 East 10th Avenue,
front entrance. Matt said that he would post NAPE information on the web site.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Terry adjourned the meeting at
8:35 P.M.
