About HESP
The Hospital Engineers of Southwestern
Pennsylvania Organization
The Hospital Engineers of Southwestern
Pennsylvania, otherwise known as HESP, is a professional association
comprised of hospital Engineers and Biomedical services professionals
in the Pittsburgh area. When we began in 1954, our
association membership consisted of a small group of hospital
engineering professionals from local Pittsburgh hospitals.
Since then, we have expanded our association to include professionals
from Nursing home facilities, and most recently, Universities
in Southwestern PA.
We are the local chapter of the national organization, The
American Society for Healthcare Engineering and are affiliated
with the National
Association of Power Engineers (N.A.P.E.) in Pittsburgh.
Hospital Engineers of SW PA, itself, boasts a membership of
over 300; regular Members are in the field of Hospital Engineering or Biomedical
services. We also offer an Associate
Membership program. Associate members are typically Company
representatives that provide quality materials or services
to the Health Care Industry. Students focusing their studies on biomedical services and hodpital
engineering are also encouraged to join and participate in
our organization.
Hospital Engineers of SW PA's primary
goal and mission is to educate our members through certification programs, seminars and networking.
We also participate in special charity programs and hold several social events throughout the year. We meet the first Tuesday of the schedule month (for 2009--March, June, September and December) at the American Serbian Club
(unless otherwise announced) in the South Side of Pittsburgh...please
join us!
